WCP Zambia

Communications

The WCP Communications department promotes public understanding of wildlife and environmental protection in Zambia through a range of targeted communication strategies.

Communications

At Wildlife Crime Prevention (WCP), the Communications Department delivers targeted communication initiatives that support wildlife protection and the prevention of environmental crime in Zambia.

Through strategic campaigns, partnerships, and media engagement, WCP provides accurate and relevant information on conservation challenges and the risks posed by wildlife crime.

Our work spans multiple platforms and approaches, including media outreach, digital content, and educational materials designed to inform audiences and support conservation and enforcement objectives.

Training and Technical Support

Assess the needs of key partners, including the Zambian media, press, and government institutions such as DNPW, to ensure access to accurate information and effective communication on wildlife crime and conservation issues.

Demand Reduction Campaigns

Design and implement evidence-based campaigns aimed at reducing wildlife and environmental crime in Zambia. These campaigns provide targeted information to audiences involved in activities such as illegal bushmeat trade and pangolin trafficking.

Public Information Campaigns

Deliver broad public information initiatives to increase understanding of wildlife crime, its consequences, and the importance of conservation. These campaigns also inform decision-makers and relevant stakeholders on key issues affecting wildlife protection.

Research and Evaluation

Communication activities are informed by data and analysis of target audiences and relevant challenges. Campaigns are evaluated to assess effectiveness and improve future programme delivery.

Media and Partnerships

WCP collaborates with journalists and media organisations to improve reporting on wildlife and environmental crime. An environmental crime journalism fellowship has been established to strengthen the quality and reach of communication related to illegal wildlife trade (IWT).
