Conservation Careers Fair
Since its inception, Wildlife Crime Prevention (WCP) has facilitated the Zambian Conservation Careers Fair (CCF), an initiative designed to provide information on career opportunities in the conservation sector.
The fair serves as a platform where organisations from across the conservation industry present available roles and career pathways, demonstrating that conservation offers structured and viable employment opportunities within Zambia.
The primary objective of CCF is to increase awareness of employment opportunities in the conservation sector and support workforce development within Zambia.
By engaging students, graduates, and jobseekers, the fair provides information on career pathways and supports the development of a skilled workforce to contribute to conservation efforts.
Each year, more than 50 conservation organisations operating in Zambia attend the fair, providing information on employment opportunities and industry requirements. Participating organisations include government agencies, research institutions, non-governmental organisations, and private sector partners involved in natural resource management.
The fair attracts over 1,000 attendees, including students, graduates, and professionals seeking to enter or transition into the conservation sector.
Information Sessions
A key component of the fair is a series of presentations delivered by conservation professionals and sector representatives. These sessions provide insights into career pathways, technical requirements, and operational aspects of working in conservation.
Speakers share professional experience and practical information relevant to employment in the sector.
Career Support Services
The fair also includes participation from employment agencies that provide guidance on job applications, CV preparation, interview techniques, and other skills required for employment in the conservation sector.
These services support participants in preparing for opportunities within the job market and aligning their skills with sector requirements.
Sector Coordination
The Zambian Conservation Careers Fair provides a platform for coordination between employers and jobseekers in the conservation sector. It supports information exchange between organisations and contributes to workforce development within Zambia.
By continuing to expand, the fair supports the availability of qualified personnel for conservation-related roles and contributes to the long-term protection of natural resources.
